How Troop 457 serves in the community

When Mercer Island had the E. coli water scare, the City reached out to Troop 457 to assist in distributing water. The troop stepped up to help, as Scouts BSA is a well-organized source of community service volunteers who have never failed to assist when called upon.

Troop 457 service projects include:

  • Participating in Santa Scouts with Mercer Island Youth & Family Services

  • Participating in Scouting for Food, a canned food drive in coordination with the BSA local district and Hopelink

  • Cleaning up at Emmanuel Episcopal Church property grounds

  • Assisting the church with their Fall Festival

  • Eagle projects throughout the community

  • Hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser

If you are concerned that your child is growing up in a privileged, sheltered environment, Scouts may be an answer. Service to others, one of the pillars of Scouting, is a natural antidote. More than just about any other group on the island, Scouts are active in service
